Summer 2010

So far this summer has been pretty good. Two camping trips (one it poured rain during), Port Alberni Drag Races, family visit from the family who moved to UAE, and 2 of the 3 sisters of the fiance's and 2 cousins graduated high-school. I found a guaranteed way to make him feel old...remind him that two sisters are done high-school, leaving only one sister and his brother. I know....kind of evil....but really....kind of fun too :). We are both pretty sad that we didn't get to S's(the fiance's sister down in AR) grad, but the timing was just horrible....M would have been less than a month old....yea....not a good idea.

We've done fireworks on Canada Day and M didn't really care and didn't notice the booms from them. BIG thumbs up!!

The babe was fabulous on both our camping trips. She really didn't care where she was or what was going on as long as she got her cuddles, her bottle and her sleeps. Our BEST baby investment so far (besides the HUGE amt of 2nd hand stuff I got from my good friend A as her son C has out-grown it all) is the HAMMOCK (Hushamok is the brand and we got it 2nd hand for 1/2 what it costs new BIG usedv win!). M sleeps in it every night. It breaks down into a fairly small bag and is SO packable that we brought it camping with us. She didn't sleep in it at night as it doesn't fit in our tent but during the day it was her hangout. TOTAL sanity saver.

So at the beginning of the month we went to Port Alberni for the "Thunder in the Valley" drag races. M couldn't have cared less about the loud cars. She was sleeping in the stroller not 10 ft from one of the cars when it started up. She didn't even wake up, and these aren't the "normal" cars, they are big, loud, dirty beasts. HUGE thumbs up. K got his truck done in time for the races and did pretty good for just finishing it the day before the races started. Can't wait for next year. Every year that we've gone the fiance starts making noises about wanting to race the "next year". Well we're three years in and NO race car to be seen! :P

So summer seems to be winding down. We've done our camping trips for the rest of the year and are already looking forward to next summer, although I know I'm in for a whole new world camping with a one year old....apparently they don't just sit around doing nothing like a infant does :P
